A Visual Preference Survey is a tool for gathering public input and feedback on planning and design alternatives. This Visual Preference Survey is another mechanism that we are using to enable the public to provide feedback and to participate in the formulation of recommendations for the Town of Cheektowaga Comprehensive Plan. This survey allows citizens to rate visual images that are centered around building style and design, site design characteristics, roadway corridor design, community aesthetics, growth patterns and more.
Input that is gathered from the public has a direct influence on the content of the Cheektowaga Comprehensive Plan and helps the Town in further defining a future vision for the community. The survey results will provide a sense of how citizens would like to see the Town strengthen its image and be developed or redevelop into the future.
This survey is intended to evaluate the public’s opinions and preferences about the physical environment through the ranking of images that illustrate a variety of conditions of urban development, roadway characteristics and other design elements. You can take the survey by simply clicking on the link on the project website. As you view the series of images, you are asked to indicate your preference by rating each individual image on a scale of 1 to 5 (with 5 being the most preferred and 0 the least preferred); there is also an option for no preference. Images were selected to demonstrate a range of design possibilities, some subtle, some more exceptional. We only ask that you use an open mind and, through the images on the screen, try to imagine how various aspects and locations in the Town could look in the future - - then tell us what you would like to see! The Visual Preference Survey will provide a snapshot of people’s opinions and shared interest with respect to how they would like to see the Town of Cheektowaga developed and redeveloped in the future - - the direction growth and land use decisions should take. The value of the survey is in the range of opinions that are gathered, the common ground that is identified and the desires that are expressed by those who participate. The objective is to further define the vision for Town of Cheektowaga and help set the direction for the future. Please help us make Cheektowaga all that it can be and more!
